Meta Buys Conductor to Run Teams of AI Coding Agents in Parallel

Meta Coding Tools Agents ai-business

TL;DR

  • Meta announced the acquisition of Conductor on Nov 4, 2026; financial terms were not disclosed.
  • Conductor's platform runs multiple coding agents in parallel across Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode, with cloud workspaces on Vercel sandboxes.
  • Conductor Cloud shuts on Nov 20, 2026; CEO Charlie Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos join Meta Superintelligence Labs under Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang.

Meta has bought Conductor, the 2024-founded startup whose software lets developers run a team of AI coding agents in parallel. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Conductor's platform orchestrates agents from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode through a single interface, with cloud workspaces running on Vercel sandboxes and local sessions on users' Macs. The company came through Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch and raised a $22 million Series A in March 2026 from Spark and Matrix. CEO Charlie Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos join Meta Superintelligence Labs, where they will work with Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang, according to Axios.

The service is winding down fast. Conductor Cloud shuts on November 20; write access disappears a week earlier, on November 13; the local Mac app loses support in early 2027. Holtz has teased what he calls a "next interface" for users early next year, with no further detail.

The timing is pointed. The same day Meta announced the deal, OpenAI told Axios it was acquiring Pierre Computer, another developer tools startup, after earlier picking up coding-agent shop Ona. That makes this our second frontier-lab coding-tools acquisition of the day, inside a run of 130 coding-tools stories in our tracker over the past 90 days. Meta's own framing, per the reporting, is about making it "easier for developers to manage armies" of AI agents.
