NSA Launches Biggest Overhaul in Decade, Creates Standalone AI Unit Alongside China and Cyber Divisions

NSA director Army Gen. Joshua M. Rudd is standing up five new mission organizations at Fort Meade covering AI, China, cybersecurity, warfighting support, and global intelligence, per the Washington Post. Each will be run by an elevated 'mission director,' possibly hired from outside the agency, with the units expected to begin operations in mid-October. It is described as the agency's most extensive internal restructuring in at least a decade.
