OpenAI has released ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of its enterprise product aimed squarely at the research, modeling and pitch-deck work that fills the days of junior investment bankers, CNBC reported. It is a tailored version of ChatGPT Work, powered by GPT-6 Astra, built with Morgan Stanley and Evercore as "design partners."
The pitch is data plumbing plus a bank-template output. OpenAI has bundled in datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase, covering earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals and private-company data, with no separate contracts or connectors for teams to set up. In a live demo, Nick Turley, OpenAI's VP of Product, walked through the platform as it examined a prospective M&A target, drew financial figures from industry-standard data sources, and "generated a formatted PowerPoint presentation styled to a bank's existing template."
Asked whether the product would shrink the need to hire junior bankers, Turley reframed the question as productivity. "If you study the life of an analyst or of a banker, depending on the industry, they're working 100-hour weeks," he said, according to Quartz. OpenAI positions the service as taking the grind off analysts rather than replacing them.
The product starts with investment banking and equity research because that is where the early partners said the pain was worst. OpenAI says it indexes and hosts the bundled datasets on its own infrastructure, enabling granular citations so bankers can trace figures back to source. It lands alongside a run of other enterprise-tailored OpenAI moves this week, including a managed ChatGPT ads pilot with Amazon's DSP.
