PewDiePie Debuts Ajax, a Qwen 3.5 9B Agent for Odysseus Workspace

TL;DR

  • Ajax is a fine-tuned Qwen 3.5 9B model that powers PewDiePie's self-hosted Odysseus workspace for search, browsing, email and calendar.
  • Kjellberg says OpenAI banned his account twice during development, first for "Distillation" and again after he used OpenAI outputs to seed training data.
  • The model was "uncensored" using the open-source Heretic abliteration tool; as of October 2, 2026, it ships with no model card or benchmarks.

Felix Kjellberg, the YouTuber known as PewDiePie, released Ajax, a fine-tuned Qwen 3.5 9B model that powers his self-hosted Odysseus workspace to handle web search, browsing, email and calendar on local hardware. According to Tom's Hardware, he says OpenAI banned his account twice while he built it.

In the unveiling video, Kjellberg displayed an email stating his account was deactivated over activity related to "Distillation." He says the account was restored after an appeal, then suspended again after he used OpenAI's own model outputs to seed training data. OpenAI's terms of use prohibit using its output to develop models that compete with OpenAI.

To "uncensor" the model, Kjellberg used automatic abliteration via the open-source Heretic tool, which edits a transformer's weights to cut refusals on ordinary requests. He kept limits on "requests to harm other people or oneself" and says Ajax "is not designed to provide dangerous, actionable instructions." An early version, per the reporting, completes its intended tasks "roughly nine times out of ten."

As of October 2, 2026, Ajax ships with no final model card, no public benchmarks and no confirmed license for its weights; the download link redirects to a training-data collection page. It lands in a run of open-weights releases on our radar this week, including AI2's Olmo-core 3, though Ajax is the first to come packaged with a celebrity audience and an explicit OpenAI dispute.
