Queer in AI reopens grad app mentor sign-ups, Nov 3 deadline

TL;DR

  • Queer in AI's Graduate Application Support Program has relaunched for the 2026/2027 cycle, with a November 3 deadline for both applicants and mentors.
  • The financial track offers up to USD 750 per individual to cover graduate or medical school application and test fees.
  • The mentor track pairs applicants with PhD students, postdocs and professors for feedback on CVs and statements of purpose.

Queer in AI has reopened its Graduate Application Support Program for the 2026/2027 academic year, posting a single November 3 deadline for both LGBTQIA+ applicants and the senior researchers who sign up to mentor them. The mentor-side form sits on OpenReview; the program's main page is on queerinai.com.

The financial track offers up to USD 750 per individual toward application or test fees for Master's, PhD and other graduate or medical programs, and is open to international applicants and non-US universities. The mentorship track pairs applicants with mentors in similar research fields for feedback on CVs, statements of purpose and personal statements. On the mentor side, the group says "PhD students, postdocs, and professors at all seniority levels" are welcome, and that each is "encouraged to provide one 30-minute meeting with applicant (flexible duration)."

Review decisions go out roughly one week after the deadline so funds can land before program fees are due. Queer in AI runs the whole thing under oSTEM, a 501(c)(3). Two of the researchers we track in our Who's Who directory flagged the OpenReview sign-up this week.
