Samsung Reveals Warby Parker, Gentle Monster Galaxy Glasses

Samsung finally showed the Galaxy Glasses at its London Unpacked, and the interesting part is not the specs, it is who is on the tag inside. Gizmodo reported that the two designs come from Warby Parker (a classic Wayfarer-adjacent frame) and Gentle Monster (a slim oval), with Gemini running on Android XR under the hood.

The pitched specs are competitive on paper. Samsung claims up to nine hours of battery under mixed use that includes heavy Gemini Live access, camera capture, and audio, and a charging case that holds seven additional full charges. There is a front-mounted camera with an LED indicator, open speakers for calls, music, and notifications, a capture button on the right arm, and Galaxy Watch compatibility for touchpad control. Samsung says the design sits on over 200 patents and has been stress-tested beyond regular glasses standards.

The reason to pay attention to the fashion co-brands rather than the chip is distribution. Meta's Ray-Ban partnership is what turned an audio-camera gadget into a mainstream retail object, and Samsung is trying to answer that with two brands at once: one that owns the Wayfarer-adjacent classic frame and one that owns the fashion-forward oval. James Choi, Samsung's XR R&D EVP, said customers should feel these are simply just a normal pair of glasses, which is the whole strategic bet in one sentence.

The honest caveat is that the reporter got to touch the frames but not wear them, and described demo plastics that scratched easily and picked up tons of fingerprints, along with an absence of adjustable nose pads. That is not the finish you want in a category where the competition is now premium-eyewear-grade. What the reporting does not give you is the price, a firm launch date beyond 'fall,' or the camera resolution, which are the three things any Ray-Ban Meta comparison actually rests on.

If Samsung can get the retail piece right, the interesting knock-on is who this drags in. Warby Parker storefronts imply a path to walk-in prescription fittings for a smart-glasses SKU, which is something Meta's channel does not yet do at the same scale. Take the specifics as reported, not settled, until Samsung publishes a price and a date.
