YC-backed Outlit pitches AI agents to watch every customer

TL;DR

  • Y Combinator-backed Outlit builds AI agents that monitor customers across CRM, call logs, LinkedIn, social media, and employer websites to flag churn and upsell openings.
  • Co-founder Josh Earle argues every company will soon assign an AI agent to every customer, framing continuous monitoring as inevitable regardless of public reaction.
  • Earle told Futurism the system can monitor anything posted on the internet and sees no obligation to notify monitored individuals or offer opt-outs.

Outlit, a Y Combinator-backed startup co-founded by Josh Earle and Leo Paz, is pitching B2B sales teams on what it calls AI customer surveillance: software agents that continuously monitor every customer across both company systems and the open web, Futurism reported.

"Every company will soon assign an AI agent to every customer to watch their every move," Earle told the outlet. The product trawls internal signals including call logs, sales records, and CRM entries, then layers in external ones like social media posts, LinkedIn, and employer websites, producing what Earle described as "one page, and it's always updating" with "all of everything we can find on them at all times." The pitch to buyers is churn prevention and upsell discovery.

Earle framed the approach as inevitable rather than optional. "Irrespective of how people feel about it, I think this whole concept of continuously monitoring…it is going to happen," he said, adding: "It's really the only way we see this is going to play out."

Asked about privacy, Earle acknowledged the breadth of what the system can ingest, saying "theoretically, we can monitor anything posted on the internet." He told Futurism that Outlit sees no obligation to notify monitored individuals or provide opt-outs, arguing: "There's nothing that we're doing that's illegal."
