The rise of AI-generated animal videos and images is such a travesty. Animal content has always been one of the best things about the internet and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to tell what’s real

Honestly I think a lot of Bluesky related crashouts have more to do with social media’s decline in general. Elon made it harder for anyone who isn’t a Nazi to get engagement. Short-form video is now the primary medium and AI slop is everywhere. But it’s easier to get mad at Bluesky
Whenever someone prominent accidentally shares an AI hallucination, people are like “this is why you have to double-check the output!” Which is absolutely true, but remember that AI proponents market it as a faster way to work. Which is not really true if you have to double check everything it does.
I’m Noticing that all the outlets that ran “Bluesky is an echo chamber” pieces have yet to acknowledge that X is now demonstrably an echo chamber when it comes to movies, political candidates, AI hype, etc etc etc
AI is a fascist tool, and that has been obvious since day 1. That’s the utility of a tool that erases, minimizes, and smears everyone who isn’t a white guy. A tool that ultimately disadvantages everyone besides the white guys at the top.
My prediction is that AI is actually so organically unpopular that we’re going to see a backlash against any new product that uses “AI” even if it doesn’t and that was a marketing ploy. All these newly “AI” companies are going to come crawling back, AI-less
I know Google Search has sucked for a while now but it genuinely saddens me to see it become even more of an AI shell of its former self. It's a tool that I think genuinely transformed everyday life, in many ways for the better, but was doomed by runaway capitalism
Martin Scorsese is advising an AI company that wants to replace human storyboarding. Which is an interesting choice because if he did literally nothing for the rest of his life I’d still consider him an all-time great filmmaker, but now I also think he’s a traitor to his industry
One of the many problems with having a brazenly corrupt government and AI generated media and accounts everywhere is that it becomes very difficult to trust anything and people jump to suspicion even when other human beings are interacting with them in good faith
I’m curious if pushing AI in schools has to do with artificially closing the gender performance gap between girls and boys. It would track with the tech bro hatred of women outperforming them academically, their hatred of teachers (specifically women), and how AI is a tool for gender-based violence
