New: the highly controversial AI music generator Suno was hacked. The hacker sent us Suno source code; it shows the company scraped YouTube Music, Deezer, and Genius. In all, Suno scraped *decades* worth of music from the internet. Obviously didn't pay artists www.404media.co/…

Hack Reveals Suno AI Music Generator Scraped YouTube, Deezer, and Genius 404media.co
AI Weekly's analysis
  • Leaked logs quantify scraping per platform: 2M+ YouTube clips, 62,117 Pond5 hours, 12,287 Deezer hours, 17,615 Genius hours, and roughly 1M podcast hours.
  • Suno publicly called the breach 'limited' and 'quickly contained' while withholding notification from customers whose emails, phone numbers, and Stripe records were exposed.
  • TechCrunch flags a distinct DMCA angle: deliberately circumventing YouTube's anti-scraping protections is a separate violation from copyright infringement in the underlying suits.

I'm trying out Duck Duck Go this week. I've been looking up best practices for SQL and Python lately. With Google, I'd eventually give up and see what the AI overview was referencing. Duck Duck Go has been pointing me to useful and relevant resources..which is what a search engine should do.

A new donut shop is opening by us. I was curious and went to look at their menu and was presented with a chatbot! Is everyone losing their mind?

As I started working on switching from Software Engineering to Data Engineering, I had my doubts. Lately, I'm feeling better about my decision. Most of the Data Engineers I learn from don't push Gen AI. Instead they caution and emphasize on learning the fundamentals. They seem to be more realistic.

Heard a new term at the RightsxTech panel today: "tech solutionism". It is where people think that all social issues can be solved with tech. Something a lot of AI and tech founders need to keep in mind.

So many LinkedIn things are breaking. Clicking on a post to expand takes you to one of the links in the post. Sometimes you have to refresh a post to show. Also, their AI job search sucks and I wish they wouldn't make it the default.

I truly cannot tell if people are being sarcastic or not. But thousands of people on X are saying that they don't care about privacy and that they'll gladly give all of their data to OpenAI. On second thought, they maybe bots or influencers paid by OpenAI.
