Apple Chips Edge AI ai-hardware

TL;DR

  • A20 Pro is the first smartphone SoC on TSMC's N2 gate-all-around process, placing Apple a full node ahead of Qualcomm and Samsung in mobile silicon.
  • The dual 16-core Neural Engine delivers 2x AI compute over the A19 Pro, with FP8 now supported across both the Neural Engine and the 7-core GPU.
  • A new M-series-inspired chip package removes memory from the thermal path, tripling vapor chamber surface area and sustaining peak AI performance without throttling.

Apple évoque enfin « the widest memory interface we've ever shipped in an iPhone » et un packaging « inspired by our M-series chips » qui relie silicium et mémoire directement à une chambre à vapeur.
