I don't think I've rolled my eyes more in my entire life, including my very angsty teenage years, than I have in just this last year of AI-frenzy. My eyes literally hurt from rolling I've had to turn off my camera on zoom lately, and I never do that. It's either I'm eye-rolling or my hair's a mess

Watching my creative husband be forced to use AI-generated images, text, & voices at work really hurts my soul. He's got a BFA & a mass comm degree. He's been crafting courses for decades. He LOVES design work, & now he's unable to design, it's all "use AI if you want to keep your job" at work

I'm so tired of hearing that an AI model's response was really thoughtful, or insightful, or whatever. No, no. Humans, thousands of humans, were thoughtful and insightful. You can't see them, because what you see is the words the AI model spits out, not the millions stolen from humans to train it.

Voicemail: "This is XYZ at Dr. ABC's office wondering if you could reschedule your appt. Give us a call back at <phone number>!" I call back at <phone number>: "Thank you for calling, I'm <AI bot name>. How can I help you?" ::round & round get nowhere, no resolution, hang up:: I hate it here.

A widening dividing line appeared this past year between people who used to find joy in their jobs having that joy stripped away by AI, & people who were sort of so-so about their jobs now being wildly jazzed about AI, & I thought I understood what made each camp feel that way, but I was wrong.
