I'm trying out Duck Duck Go this week. I've been looking up best practices for SQL and Python lately. With Google, I'd eventually give up and see what the AI overview was referencing. Duck Duck Go has been pointing me to useful and relevant resources..which is what a search engine should do.
A new donut shop is opening by us. I was curious and went to look at their menu and was presented with a chatbot! Is everyone losing their mind?
I really don't understand why clean tech people are into Gen AI
Got added to a "Wrong about VR, AI, Crypto, SmartGlasses, GLP1, NFTs, or Bitcoin" moderation list Happy to be categorized that way lol 😂
My husband works for a healthcare org and we were talking about AI. The org's stance on AI is that you can use it as a tool but you have to verify the output. If anything goes wrong, then your license is on the line. My husband was irritated that tech people have no licensing and standards.
As I started working on switching from Software Engineering to Data Engineering, I had my doubts. Lately, I'm feeling better about my decision. Most of the Data Engineers I learn from don't push Gen AI. Instead they caution and emphasize on learning the fundamentals. They seem to be more realistic.
A study of 22K Data Engineering job posts show that only 7% ask for AI skills. Glad to hear it!
My 8yo's school had an open house today. We met her new teacher. I asked about computer usage in the classroom. She said "All computer usage will be purposeful. Btw we will not be using AI. AI has no place in 3rd grade." I was happy to hear that!
Reviewing code written completely with AI for a civic tech project. How did I get here!? 🥲
Heard a new term at the RightsxTech panel today: "tech solutionism". It is where people think that all social issues can be solved with tech. Something a lot of AI and tech founders need to keep in mind.
