Alibaba Fires DingTalk CEO Chen Hang Amid AI Strategy Dispute; Alibaba Hong Kong Stock Drops More Than 4%

Alibaba on June 11 abruptly replaced DingTalk CEO Chen Hang — the app's original founder who had returned to the role in April 2025 — with technology executive Chen Yushen, citing internal tensions over the enterprise communication platform's AI transformation direction. Alibaba's Hong Kong-listed shares fell more than 4% on the announcement. DingTalk, which serves hundreds of millions of users in Alibaba's enterprise ecosystem, had been repositioning itself as an AI-native productivity platform under Chen Hang's leadership.
