ITRC: US Data Breach Notices on Pace to Break 2025 Record as AI-Enabled Attacks Jump 56% YoY

Identity Theft Resource Center data reported August 14 shows 1,803 US breach compromises in H1 2026, on pace to shatter 2025's 3,321 record. IBM's latest report cited that roughly one in four breaches is now AI-enabled — a 56% jump year-over-year — with the Instructure/Canvas incident accounting for 58% of H1 notices.
