on the one hand I need to tell my mom to not use the AI slop apps to make little pictures of herself as a superhero, on the other hand she wants to feel strong and brave because she has cancer how do I explain she is trying to deal with her cancer feelings using a societal cancer

In a workshop on designing a "community owned data center" recently I blew everyone's mind by proposing that instead of banging our heads against the wall trying to think of LLM solutions to systemic problems they should just sell the compute to neighborhood gentrifiers and use the money to do stuff

i get confused by talking about the AI "circular economy" because for a while people have been trying to make "circular economy" a thing in terms of like, actually accounting for full life cycles and waste streams in commodity production and that...does not seem to be what the AI stuff is doing
