Division Named 'Meta Superintelligence Labs' Ships First Product: Better Instagram Ads
MENLO PARK—Meta Superintelligence Labs, the research group named after the theoretical upper limit of machine cognition, announced Tuesday that its first commercially deployed product would help users remove blemishes from selfies and generate more persuasive product imagery for Instagram-sponsored posts.
The model, called Muse Image, is now available across Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and Meta's Advantage+ advertising platform. In a company blog post, Meta described the launch as a milestone fulfilling the Superintelligence Labs division's founding vision.
The model can adjust skin tones in group photos, apply preset lighting effects to Stories content, and autonomously produce ad creative calibrated to maximize click-through rates across Meta's advertising network. Meta said MSL's second model is currently in training.
The company declined to specify whether that model would address any of the challenges historically considered central to the definition of superintelligence.
"We're just getting started," said a company spokesperson, when asked whether the lab's output would eventually extend beyond image retouching and advertising optimization.
