TL;DR

  • Google released AI Edge Foresight, an experimental Mac meeting note-taker that runs entirely on-device and captures microphone plus system audio.
  • The app pairs the 740-million-parameter EmbeddingGemma 2 retrieval model with Gemma 4, which expands user shorthand into complete notes.
  • Users can build a local knowledge base from PDFs, Google Docs, Microsoft Office files, plain text, Markdown and web bookmarks for real-time Q&A.

Google has released AI Edge Foresight, an experimental Mac meeting note-taker that pairs the 740-million-parameter EmbeddingGemma 2 retrieval model with the Gemma 4 assistant and runs entirely on-device. It captures microphone input and system audio, so it works with any meeting platform and does not need an internet connection.

During a call the user jots brief bullet points; Foresight expands them into fuller notes using the live transcript. It also detects questions raised in the meeting and surfaces answers from a personal knowledge base built from uploaded PDFs, Google Docs, Microsoft Office files, plain text, Markdown and web bookmarks.

The release lands into what TechCrunch's Ivan Mehta calls a "competitive and crowded" category: Granola, which, per the article, "offers a similar workflow that combines manual notes with automated meeting records", plus recent note-takers from Wispr and Calendly, and Superhuman's acquisition of Fathom. Google itself shipped a local-model dictation tool back in April 2026, and the launch is one of several on-device releases captured in our edge-AI tracker over the past three months.

TechCrunch's write-up does not list pricing, a general-availability date, or the minimum Apple Silicon chip the app requires.
