Meta Adds Spaces to Muse Agent, Topic Tabs With App Hooks

Meta Agents AI Assistants ai-business

TL;DR

  • Meta introduced Spaces, breakout sidebar tabs where its Muse agent works toward a single topic like a trip, a recipe stash, a wedding or a DIY build.
  • Spaces plug into third-party apps and refresh in the background, surfacing concert dates, price changes or savings progress without a prompt.
  • It is the second Muse feature this week after Muse Voice on Thursday; Zuckerberg said Muse passed 10 million US and Canada users since its September debut.

Meta's Muse agent is getting breakout tabs. The company introduced Spaces on Nov. 6, breakout conversations that revolve around a particular topic, which Meta prefers to call "custom experiences." They live in the sidebar of the Muse interface. Click one, and the agent works toward a specific goal: a vacation, a recipe collection, a holiday gift tracker, a wedding, a DIY project.

The pitch depends on third-party hooks. "Connect the apps you use, and your spaces keep themselves up to date in the background, so new concert dates, price changes, or savings progress show up without you having to ask," Meta says.

Spaces is the second Muse feature this week, following Muse Voice on Thursday, which added video chatting and verbal commands with AI avatars. Muse itself only debuted in September; on Meta's October earnings call Mark Zuckerberg said the agents reached 10 million users in the US and Canada in under two months, a cadence we've been tracking across three Muse stories in as many days. TechCrunch also notes competition from OpenAI's Dots and Elon Musk's Grokbot.
