Nirva Raises $25M for $249 AI Necklace That Journals Your Day

TL;DR

  • Nirva Labs raised $25M led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and South Park Commons, bringing total funding to $33M after an $8M seed.
  • The $249 AI jewelry comes as a necklace or bracelet in silver, gold or onyx casings with a dual-mic setup, touch button, LED and about two days of battery.
  • Orders open in November with first shipments expected by the end of the year.

Nirva Labs, a roughly 20-person San Francisco startup, raised $25 million for an AI necklace or bracelet that automatically journals the wearer's day, SiliconAngle reported. The round is backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners and South Park Commons and lifts total funding to $33 million following an $8 million seed.

The pitch is not productivity. "We're not selling a device. We're selling self-understanding," said co-founder and CEO Wei Lyu. The jewelry comes in silver, gold and onyx casings and is designed, in the company's words, to "journal a user's day automatically, identify patterns in moods and relationships and provide advice" through a companion app. With permission it can pull from a user's calendar, location and Apple Health.

Hardware is modest: a dual-mic setup, a touch button, an LED, and roughly two days of battery. Lyu also wants the thing to work as an accessory on its own, saying that "with a dead battery, it should still be a beautiful piece of jewelry."

Orders open in November at $249, with the first pieces expected to ship by the end of the year. It joins a steady run of consumer AI assistant launches we've tracked this quarter.
