One thing the past 24 hours has emphasized for me - with Google's attempt to extort schools and the rejection of (techno)fascism - is that now is the time to embrace a critical tech education that helps youth and teachers analyze AI as a political project while also pursuing decomputing in schools.

Observation after hearing from colleagues today: even if you explicitly state in your syllabus that students may not use GenAI, the students are attuned to the institution's AI boosterism - often framed as "responsible uses of AI" - and that institutional messaging overrides faculty's stated policy.
