Google's September Android Drop wires Gemini into Find Hub
TL;DR
- Find Hub gains a Gemini-backed Remembered items feature on Android 16+ so users can tell the assistant where they put objects, optionally with a photo.
- Motion Assist, restricted to Android 17, overlays a subtle bubble that moves with vehicle motion to help fight motion sickness on-screen.
- Guided Vision in Gemini Live rolls back to Android 9 with a caveat that it 'can make mistakes' and is 'not intended as a medical device.'
"Hey Google, remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in my bedroom drawer." That is the example command Google offers for the marquee feature in September's Android Drop, posted by Erik Kay, VP Engineering for Android Core Platform. On Android 16 and up, users can ask Gemini to file where they put an object, with an optional photo, in countries where Gemini and Find Hub are supported.
Four other features ship in the same drop. Motion Assist, gated to Android 17, adds "a subtle bubble overlay to your screen that moves" with vehicle motion, meant to "help bridge the gap between what your eyes see and the movement of your ride." Guided Vision in Gemini Live works back to Android 9 and carries a flat caveat: "Guided vision can make mistakes. Not intended as a medical device." Google Keep list sharing lands in Google Messages via a "+" icon, with rollout starting today. Custom chat themes with wallpapers and text-bubble colors are live now.
It is one of several Google items on our tracker today alone, alongside Google Pics going GA as a Workspace-native image editor.
