Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, IBM, Palantir Sign Open Letter Urging Congress Not to Curb Open-Weight AI

Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, IBM, Palantir, Hugging Face, Perplexity, Mistral, Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, the Linux Foundation and roughly a dozen others signed a joint letter on July 24 urging the US government to avoid 'premature restrictions' on open-weight AI models, calling for expanded public compute and shared training assets. OpenAI and Anthropic did not sign. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang broke his silence to publish the letter as his first-ever post on X, arguing that 'the world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models.'
