So I get that there's (yet again) a big debate going on about AI on Bluesky. I am turning off replies to this post because I don't want to have notifications flooded one way or the other on this one. I just want to share what I've heard multiple times in just the past two weeks.
People get fooled by AI images, but once you're informed about it, you really should take it down (and maybe say sorry). A bunch of people are reposting an AI image of a protestor being punched at a Trump rally. There are real images of that event. No need to use faked images.
Another agentic coding success. There's a little utility that I've relied on for work for years, but which has gotten flakey over the last year or so. It also had code/feature bloat I didn't need. Used claude code (fable 5) to see if I could recreate it in a way that worked for me and... bam. Works.
This is the third time I've heard a VC refer to demand for AI as "infinite." And, look, I'm no AI hater, but... come on.

Yes, AI tools are overhyped in many ways, but asking AI to sort out a big stack of travel receipts into separate, ready-to-send reimbursement reports for four separate speaking events in the last two weeks just saved me hours...
Meanwhile, have spent my Friday night & Saturday getting my agentic setup to mostly use local models (Gemma 4 31B and Qwen 3.6 35B-A3B) to see if I can manage much more of my inference locally... Just testing so far... but... um, local models are really good these days.
So my entire inbox is PR people pushing this or that expert they rep with an opinion on the OpenAI/HuggingFace story. And none of them appear to have particularly interesting or useful takes beyond "yikes, that's crazy."
